These terms apply to the Altiwind website, web app and API (“Altiwind”), provided by Henrique Saraiva, Portugal (“we”).
Guidance only, not for air navigation
Altiwind gives weather guidance only. It is not for air navigation and is not an official source of aeronautical or meteorological information. Labels such as “Within your limits”, “Marginal” and “Outside your limits” compare forecast data with thresholds you can adjust; they are not a statement that a flight is permitted, advisable or free of risk.
- You remain responsible for every flight, including checking official airspace information, notices and restrictions, and the rules that apply where you fly.
- Forecasts, estimated gusts, model choices, observations and Kp values can be wrong, late or unavailable. Always look at the conditions on site and follow your drone maker’s instructions.
- Drone specifications come from makers’ published pages and may contain errors or change; fields we could not confirm are marked.
- Any airspace information we show is informational, with links to the official sources, which always take precedence.
Price
Altiwind is free and needs no account.
Acceptable use
Don’t misuse Altiwind: no automated scraping or bulk requests to the API, no attempts to break or overload it, no reselling of its data. We may limit or suspend access that harms the service or other users.
Data sources and licences
Forecast data comes from Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0, built on models from DWD, Met Office, Météo-France, NOAA and ECMWF. METAR observations come from the NOAA Aviation Weather Center and Kp from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (public domain). Sun times are calculated with the NOAA solar equations.
Liability
We provide Altiwind with care but without any warranty that it is accurate, complete or available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by relying on forecasts or scores instead of your own judgement and official sources. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the current version. These terms are governed by the law of Portugal, without depriving consumers of the protection of the mandatory rules of their country of residence.
